LIVING IN A SHELL
“Hei,
stop playing… lunch is ready…” mom’s loud voice. “Yes mom, five more minutes “.
Can see me with my friends, covered with dust, trying to catch the thief, running
through the fields. That gentle breeze touching my face, its mischievous hands playing
with my hair… that feeling of mud under the feet… giggling voices of friends…
that greenery in front of me, one of the fondest memories of my childhood.
Today, the
grown-up me is on all social networking media platform, it’s kind of a norm I guess.
I don’t chat or message though, even if someone tries to contact me I give them
a cold shoulder by saying “I am busy”. Bullshit, I know deep inside my heart I can
take out 5 minutes for you and talk to you, but I wouldn’t do that, because I chose
to be a nut in a shell. I don’t want to get out of my comfort zone, I will whine
and complain, but I will never break my routine.
Where have
I reached? Where are those good old friends and family who gave me lots of
laugh and precious moments? I turned a blind eye towards everything
beautiful, I went deaf and mute, nothing ever reached me, thought I am happy
inside the shell, but it is a lie.
Well it’s
time to break the shell, move out of the comfort zone. Small little changes in
life can make a huge difference, lot of space and time for your loved ones
and for you too. In the morning go for a walk or go stand in the balcony
for 5 minutes, the gentle breeze can enlighten your bored soul... the world
around you, watch them closely… kids going to school, their amused faces, their
parents, people giving you a shade of smile… try to give them one of your big
smile…dogs playing, cows wandering, pigeons murmuring, imagine they all are
saying “you look great today”. Aww! That made your day…
Don’t
forget to carry on the happy mood, be nice to everyone around you. Plan your
day well, prioritize, finish your work before deadline, reach home early, spend
time with your loved one. Try something new, make new friends, do a little booty
shake, turn the volume up and sing along, go crazy. On weekends go for shopping
or to a pub or do something that will help the economy grow, if you are a
socially responsible person help the society, volunteer for a good cause. Once
in a while call your friends and family (always keep in touch).
We got
only one life, live it with a smile, a smile that can change a lot of nuts in
to human... Break that shell around you… as my friend once said, “Don’t be so
shellfish”.
